NewView Oklahoma Opens Groundbreaking Music Lab

NewView Oklahoma has officially opened its new Music Lab, a space designed to make music accessible for individuals who are blind or have low vision. The Lab is an adaptive space created for individuals who are blind or have low vision to explore creativity and self-expression through music.

Located at our Classen Low Vision Clinic in Oklahoma City, President and CEO Lauren Branch, shared the vision behind the Music Lab and the role it plays in NewView’s broader mission of empowering independence at every stage of life.

“Whether it’s a pediatric patient, a teen camper, or an adult client experiencing music for the first time in years, this space invites self-expression and empowerment,” said Branch.

Thanks to generous support from the Kirkpatrick Foundation and the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, the Music Lab was designed with adaptive instruments and technology to ensure music is accessible to all, regardless of vision level.

The grand opening event featured a live demonstration by participants from NewView’s Keys to Work summer program, which helps high school students who are blind or have low vision prepare for life after graduation through career training and independent living skills.

The Music Lab is a shining example of how NewView continues to lead with purpose—building opportunities, connection, and joy for Oklahomans with vision loss.
