lake tenkiller – OWL Camp – ages 14 to 17

Globe Life Lodge 19810 W. 901 Road, Oklahoma

The OWL camp intended for young adults, teaches campers with low vision how to water ski and engage in other water activities. Campers spend the week at Lake Tenkiller on the water, playing games, fishing, and building lifelong friendships. This camp is intended to build confidence and help students to feel connected to others.

okc OWL Camp – ages 8 to 13

University of Central Oklahoma 100 N. University Drive, Edmond

The OWL camp designated for younger campers pairs every child with a sighted buddy. Campers and their sighted buddies will participate in activities such as rock-climbing, archery, horseback riding, swimming and kayaking. New activities are added every year to create a unique camper experience. OWL Camp is structured specifically to engage sighted children and those with vision loss. The goal is to create a lasting impact that improves camper confidence.

Keys to work camp – ages 16 to 22

Keys to Work provides an immersive, hands-on experience with the latest assistive technology and works to teach resume building, interview skills, self-advocacy, and offers networking opportunities with professionals in the Oklahoma City market. Participants in the program also learn independent living skills including cooking, cleaning, organization, and independent travel. Upon completing the program, young adults living with blindness or low vision gain the skills and an individualized plan that will serve as a road map for future success. Campers experience dramatic shifts in perspective as they work with the NewView rehabilitation team to learn essential skills; they leave with the confidence to consider a fulfilling future with a level of independence they never thought possible.
