DESCRIPTION:NewView Oklahoma is proud to be a supporter of Meta and the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) to bring an important new technology opportunity to honorably discharged veterans who are blind or have low vision. \n\n\n\nThrough a national initiative led by Meta and BVA\, eligible veterans will have the opportunity to get a free pair of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses and participate in complementary training designed to help them explore how the technology can support greater independence in everyday life. \n\n\n\nMeta glasses can assist with tasks such as reading text\, identifying objects\, accessing information\, and navigating their surroundings. During the event\, veterans will have the opportunity to learn how to use the glasses and explore the features that may be most useful to them. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent details\n\n\n\nThursday\, Nov. 510am to 2pmNewView Oklahoma – 4301 N. Classen Blvd.\, OKC\, OK 73118 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho should attend?\n\n\n\nThis event is intended for honorably discharged veterans who are blind or have low vision and may benefit from access to Meta smart glasses and training. \n\n\n\nNewView Oklahoma is serving as a supporting partner for the initiative\, helping connect veterans throughout Oklahoma and the surrounding region with this opportunity. DESCRIPTION:PLAY Academy is a weekend built just for kids ages 10 to 17 who are blind or have low vision\, giving them the chance to be full-time athletes\, teammates\, and friends. \n\n\n\n\nCampers will stay at Post Oak Lodge in Tulsa\, OK and spend the weekend trying sports designed with blindness and low vision in mind\, including goalball and beep baseball. Days are packed with coached play\, team building\, and plenty of game room fun\, and it all wraps up Sunday morning with a goalball competition parents are welcome to watch\, plus closing shout outs to celebrate everyone’s hard work. \n\n\n\nFor a lot of parents\, this weekend is the first time they get to watch their child run the bases or dive for a ball without hesitation and see just how capable and confident their kid really is. PLAY Academy gives blind and low vision youth ages 10 to 17 a safe\, supportive space to build skills\, independence\, and friendships that carry well beyond the weekend.
